Abstract
Purpose: This study examined the perceptions of various health promotion policies on drinking and nutrition among general citizens living in Ulsan Metropolitan City.

Methods: The pros and cons of a total of 11 drinking policies and 6 nutrition policies were confirmed in the survey. Through frequency analysis, the approval rate of each policy was analyzed. In addition, it was examined whether there was a difference in the approval rate of each policy according to socio-demographic factors and the health behavior characteristics of the survey participants.

Results: A total of 1,226 people participated in the survey. The drinking policy with the highest approval rate was addiction treatment and rehabilitation (86.5%), followed by the sobriety campaign (84.7%) and alcohol regulation in public places (80.9%). However, the increase in the liquor tax (38.1%) had the lowest approval rate. The nutrition policy with the highest approval rate was the expansion of nutrition labeling obligations (89.7%), followed by the restriction of stores near schools (79.0%). However, the policy with the lowest approval rate was the taxation of sweetened food (57.0%). There was a difference in the approval rate of various policies according to the health behavior of the study participants. For example, there were more drinking policies in favor of non-smokers (7.8) than smokers (7.4) and non-drinkers (8.1) than drinkers (7.4).

Conclusions: This study has great significance in that it comprehensively examined the perceptions of various health promotion policies on drinking and nutrition, and generated data to support the introduction of related policies.
